MONCTON, NB - November 21,2010 - The Mid Isle Matrix completed a long road to the championship game and came away with a 9-2 win  over the Sherwood Falcons to become the Minor Midget Champs of the 30th Cavendish Farms Monctonian AAA Challenge.

The Matrix, who are currently tied for first place in the PEI Midget AAA League, lost their first game but not their belief that they could win it all and in the end they proved right. 

"We were the 10th team on the list and just made it," said head coach Mike Lord after the game. "It was a long haul. We played four games in the past 24 hours. It took a lot of courage by the players but they did it."

He said coming into the Monctonian the team had expectations but losing their first game caused everyone a "bit of thinking." 

 "But we still believed we could win and get to the final and the players bought into that thought. Everyone played great from both goalies out. A couple of our players played through injuries. They all worked hard every shift and we did it."

"They just never quit and it was that that got us here," he said. "Winning this has shown us what we can do if we set our minds to it. If we work as a team."

He said the ultimate goal for everyone connected with the team is to get to the Atlantics. "I know we can do it. And this win helps build that winning feeling and proves we can if we all work every game, every shift."

Mid Isle made it to finals and lost in 2007 and that was their best finish at the Monctonian since Mid Isle came into existence and the minor division of the Monctonian began.
