The seven-team PEI Midget AAA Hockey League gets underway on Monday night when the defending PEI and Atlantic Minor Midget AAA Champion Pownal Gaudet's Auto Body Red Devils host the Western Regals at 7:55 in Pownal. 

The Red Devils will look to continue their success from last year's incredible season. Forward Harrison Hayden, an all-star from last year's Atlantic Championships, will lead the offensive attack while defensemen Colin MacEachern and Luke Dibenedetto will be relied on heavily to help veteran goalie James Duffy keep pucks out of the net. The team will lean on twelve capable rookies this season as they attempt to make a return trip to the Atlantics.

Coach Brett Corcoran of the Regals says "we look to have a hard working-team competing every night with all four lines providing offense, strong play in the defensive end and balanced goaltending." They will not have to look hard for leaders on the team with twelve returning players on the roster. The Regals have added incentive to build for the post-season as they have gained a birth in the Atlantic Championships as hosts of the 2014 Minor Midget AAA Atlantic Championships in March.

On Tuesday night, the Mid-Isle Robert's Petro Canada Matrix will host the Charlottetown Brighton Construction Abbies at 7:30 at APM Centre. "We have 12 returning players and four of the eight new players are from the Midget AA provincial champion Southside Lynx," states coach Mike Lord. "We will feature strong goaltending once again and a balanced attack from our forward lines. Defence group are a mix of physical and skill guys. We look forward to a competitive year".

The Kings County Kings will visit Cody Banks Arena to take on the Sherwood Drug Mart Falcons at 8:20 on Thursday night. "We'll be lead by a cast of quality third-year players, Jack Connell, Brandon Smyth, and Jeremy Ramsay," says coach Craig Foster. "We'll be lead offensively by Tanner MacLean, Tanner Lund, and Riley Thomson, and defensively by Smyth and Zack Lander, quality first-year puck movers."

The Kings will host the Summerside Hemphill GM Capitals on Friday night in Souris at 7:55, and the opening week will wrap up on Saturday with the Red Devils travelling to Simmons to take on the Abbies at 1:35 and the Regals hosting the Matrix in Alberton at 7:30.

The 30-game regular season will conclude on February 15^th with the playoffs and Atlantic Championships to follow.
