Hockey PEI has recently announced that the Alberton Minor Hockey Association has been selected as the official host of the 2014 Minor Midget AAA Atlantic Championships.  The Alberton Midget "AAA" Regals will host the event at the Jacques Cartier Arena from March 27-30, 2014.
 
The championship will crown the top Minor Midget AAA team from the region.  Teams will include Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, a provincial representative from PEI and the host Alberton Regals.  The 2014 Minor Midget AAA Championship will be the last time this event is hosted in the Atlantic Region.
 
The PEI Midget AAA hockey league which consist of seven teams will do battle for the 2014 Provincial title in the hopes of being the PEI representative and joining in the host Alberton Regals at the 2014 Minor Midget AAA Atlantic Championships.
 
The Alberton Regals were successful in their bid attempt, as they were selected among four bids that were submitted to Hockey PEI.  A committee comprised of members of Hockey PEI Minor Council reviewed the bid applications and made the selection for the championships.
 
"On behalf of the Alberton Regals Midget AAA team and our host committee we are very excited and look forward to hosting the top Minor Midget AAA Teams in Atlantic Canada. We are very excited and are certain that in cooperation with Hockey PEI, we will be able to stage a great event.  Not only will it be a great experience for our own players, but we plan on making sure to make this event something all teams will remember," stated Rhonda McNeill, representing the Alberton Regals Midget AAA team and the bid committee.
