DALHOUSIE, NB, March 25, 2012 - With three goals the first period the Mid-Isle Robert's Petro Canada Matrix (Team PEI) captured the gold medal at the Minor Midget AAA Atlantics 5-2 against Team NB, the Kenn Valley Spartans with Campbell Gallant scoring what turned out to be the game winner.

The Matrix scored three in the first and a pair in the third while the Spartans managed one in each of the second and third periods. The two teams had met in the final game of the round robin and the Matrix won that one 6-4. 

Tanner McGuigan, Luke MacKay and Gallant scored the goals in the first to give Team PEI a 3-0 lead going into the second. 

The only team to get a second period marker was the Spartans off the stick of Jeremy Parker to close the gap to a two goal lead for the Islanders and early in the third Dustin Dutcher got Kenn Valley to within one but that was as close as they could come and the Matrix scored another pair to win the game. 

Brad Power and Jonathan Richards added those counters. Mid Isle assists went to Richards, Alex MacLeod, Spencer McAllister and Ben Keefe. 

Jeremy Holmes, Curtis Hastings, and Scott Lloyd had assists for the Spartans. 

Jordan Zember took the win in net. Ryan Cormier was the losing goaltender.
