Michael McRea scored with 1:19 remaining as the Western Regals edged the Mid-Isle Matrix 4-3 on the weekend in pre-season play.
 
Connor Horne, Sam Hackett, and Thomas Rennie (1-1) also scored for the Regals with McRae, Jesse Hackett (2), Alex Arthur, and Jacob Hogan adding assists.
 
Matt Mills, Carson MacKay, and Malcolm MacDonald scored for the Matrix with assists coming from Kyle Weeks, Patrick Wyand, Nick Buote and Reece Wyand.
 
Ben Paynter started for Western with Matt Jelley starting for the Matrix.
